Grandvalira is one resort consisting of seven different sectors

It was founded in 2003 when two of the Pyrenees oldest resorts, Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig / Encamp (founded in 1956) and Soldeu / El Tarter / Canillo (founded in 1964), joined together. This fusion gave rise to the largest resort in the Pyrenees and one of the largest in Europe with 215 km of ski run spread over a total of 138 slopes of all different levels, and the creation of one single ski pass to enjoy all the skiable territory. It is in 2019 when the new Peretol sector is created, and with this the union with the rest of the ski resort.

Over its years of history, Grandvalira has seen important investment more than one hundred million euros spent on increasing the amount of skiable kilometres, renovating and increasing the network of ski lifts (the resort is now capable of handling more than 100,000 skiers/hour, meaning that lines at the lifts are now a thing of the past), improving the network of snow cannons (meaning that over 66% of the entire territory can be covered in artificial snow if required) and on broadening the range of activities the resort has to offer making it the best place to enjoy après-ski.

Located in the heart of the Eastern Pyrenees, the Principality of Andorra provides an incredible setting for practising winter sports throughout the winter season. Its more than 300 skiable kilometres attract lots of tourists and skiers who decide to come to the Andorran Pyrenees to discover all that our mountains have to offer. Where are we?

Grandvalira is located in the Principality of Andorra and, although the main way of getting to the country is by road, there are international airports nearby, which makes it easy to visit from anywhere. In addition, throughout the season, there are free bus services to the resort’s sectors for skiers. Check out all the information on how to get to the resort.

A resort for major events

Support for constant innovation has allowed us to host events on the world stage, such as the Finals of the Alpine Ski World Cup, or the speed events for the World Cup, which have helped to give us a boost internationally in terms of quality within the ski resort sector.

The most noteworthy events held at Grandvalira have been the 2012 and 2016 Alpine Ski World Cups, the 2019 World Cup Finals, the 2022 European Cup Finals and the 2023 World Cup Finals. The sporting dream and legacy that has built up over recent years has been the driving force behind us taking on the challenge of applying to host the Alpine Ski World Championships in 2029.
