Grandvalira closes the Christmas period with a high turnout of skiers

Grandvalira has closed the festive Christmas week with excellent visitor numbers. Between 24 and 31 December, the Andorran snow territory welcomed 5% more visitors than last year, making this a great start to the season and contines the success first seen during the Puríssima holiday weekend on December 8.

The last few days of 2013 also showed an increase in the numbers of visitors from its main markets. From among the Spanish visitors received by the Andorran resort, a high number came from Catalonia, Madrid and Valencia. With regards users from other countries, the trend for visitors to come from the UK and Russia continues to increase. The good performance of the French market is also worthy of special mention, maintaining its growth rate after the promotional efforts made in the neighboring country throughout this season and the last.

Among the keys for this high turnout of visitors between Christmas and New Year's Eve 2013/2014 are the good weather conditions that snow lovers visiting the resort have been able to enjoy. The fantastic conditions at the start of this season have allowed almost 100% of the territory to be opened, a total of 200 skiable kilometers. Furthermore, all the resort facilities and services have been in full operation over these last few days of 2013.

Epiphany Bank Holiday

Next weekend, the 4 and 5 January, which coincides with the Epiphany celebrations on Monday 6 January, Grandvalira will be keeping practically the entire skiable surface area open to winter sports fans. The depth of the snow should range between 90 and 170 centimeters. Furthermore, light snowfall is forecast over the next few days which will improve the quality and quantity of the snow in the resort's six sectors.

Grandvalira will also be organizing some special activities for the Epiphany celebrations. On Sunday 5 January, at Pas de la Casa, youngsters will be able to enjoy a visit from the Three Wise Men who will be arriving at the resort from 6.00 p.m. The traditional descent of the torches is also being held on the same day in this sector.

As always, customers at Grandvalira will be able to enjoy the best après-ski at the Terrassa Nordic Lounge Gall de Bosc and at l' Abarset. At the first, on Friday the 3 and Saturday the 4, there will be live music from 12:00 noon, whilst at the second, there will be concerts and DJs livening up the evenings from 5.00 p.m. onwards. There will also be a DJ at the Cala Bassa beach Club every day to ensure that the good atmosphere and fun never stop.

Furthermore, during this, the first week of 2014, the Land Rover route  located in Pla d'Espiolets in the Soldeu sector has been put into operation. Users of this snow and ice driving school will be able to perfect their control behind the steering wheel under the watchful eyes of specialized monitors. All the courses and activities are performed in the British made 4x4 vehicles and under the strictest safety conditions.
