Visitors to Grandvalira will find 170 km of slopes open and enjoy unique experiences over the holiday season

No fewer than 87 slopes will be open at Grandvalira this weekend, a total of 170 kilometres that make this the largest skiable area in the Peninsula and Andorra. The snow will be 30-80 cm thick, with the entry of atmospheric disturbance forecast for Friday. All sectors will be connected by slopes at the largest ski resort in southern Europe, whilst the Ski and Snowboard School will be open and nearly 100% of ski lifts will be operating.

 

Not only that, but freestyle fans will find two ideal venues for enjoying their favourite sport at Grandvalira. From Friday, Sunset Park Peretol in the Grau Roig sector will be ready to delight our visitors, whilst the El Tarter Snow Park will also open partially over the coming days.

 

Exclusive preview of the Igloo Hotels for Grandvalira Fanatics

The Igloo Hotel in the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira will be open for a sneak preview from 11 am to 4 pm this weekend (December 22 and 23). This exclusive opportunity is open only to Grandvalira Fanatics with season ski tickets. Our fans will be the first to admire the construction of this revolutionary site, seeing how the ice statues are carved and enjoying a selection of smoked food washed down by a glass of cava.

 

Special events to ring in the New Year 2013 at Grandvalira

The different sectors at Grandvalira will offer visitors the chance to take part in a host of activities, enjoying new experiences with partner, family or friends. Apart from the usual facilities, which include mushing, snowmobiles and snowshoe circuits, the following special activities will take place on Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and Epiphany:

 

FATHER CHRISTMAS ENDS HIS JOURNEY AT GRANDVALIRA

Younger visitors to Grandvalira will receive a very special visit at the resort. Father Christmas will arrive at the El Tarter sector by dog sleigh, where he will board a snowmobile to visit Soldeu and Canillo.

Accompanied by two ski instructors carrying torches, Father Christmas will arrive at Pas de la Casa at 8 pm on December 24. Reaching the slopes by Ratrac, he will then board a sleigh to ride around the village, giving presents at the Poliesportiu sports centre in Pas de la Casa.

 

LANTERN DESCENT OF SOLDEU

This family activity will particularly delight children from 6 to 12 years visiting the largest ski resort in southern Europe with their families. The descent will end at the Sol i Neu restaurant, where all those taking part will receive hot chocolate, cake and diplomas (recommended participant ages: 6-12 years).

TORCH DESCENT OF SOLDEU

(ADULTS) Data Monday, 31 December 2012 Hora 7 pm Punt de trobada Gondola lift, Soldeu sector of Grandvalira Resum activitat This year, New Year’s Eve will feature a descent of the legendary Avet slope, which served as the venue for the Soldeu 2012 World Cup. At the end of the descent, participants will receive a piece of cake and a glass of mulled wine – ideal for warming up again!

THE THREE KINGS VISIT GRANDVALIRA
