Intense weekend of sports and music in Grandvalira with Total Fight and ElectroSnow

One of the most intense weeks of the season lies ahead in Grandvalira. Firstly, the Total Fight Masters of Freestyle will be held for snowboarding and secondly the Andorran resort will also host the ElectroSnow music festival, featuring major international DJs.

Total Fight Snowboard

The 10th edition of the Grandvalira Total Fight Masters of Freestyle opens up with the snowboard trial on Thursday to Saturday, March 27 - 29.  Taking place at El Tarter Snowpark, this competition has 5 stars out of a possible 6 in the World Snowboard Tour, the most important circuit of its type at international level.

Many of the world's most prominent riders in the sport will be participating, including many from the top ten.  Ulrik Baderstcher, Giermund Braaten, Brage Richenberg, Roope Tonteri, Billy Morgan, Kyle Mack and Charles Reid, winner of the Grandvalira Total Fight 2013, are just a few of the names to watch out for in this important event which is one of the most important of the freestyle season. The top Spanish riders of the moment, such as Carles Turner, Ruben Verges and Miguel Moreno, will also be there.

Thursday 27 will be the day when riders can get on the new circuit designed in El Tarter Snowpark and practice their tricks. The qualifying session will be held on Friday, 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while the final is on Saturday, 29 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m..

Mention should also be made of the following week, from Thursday to Saturday, April 3 - 5, the Grandvalira Total Fight for freeskiing is held.

ElectroSnow

The weekend coinciding with the Total Fight Snowboard, Grandvalira hosts the second edition of the ElectroSnow festival.  On Friday and Saturday, March 28 and 29, in El Tarter sector, lovers of electronic music and snow can make a date with highly regarded international DJs such as Ricardo Villalobos, Simian Mobile Disco, Max Cooper-Rone and Sonja Moonear.

Those attending ElectroSnow, whose main stage will be open from 10:00 p.m. to 3:45 a.m., can also enjoy many other performances on the Red Bull Academy outdoor stage (from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.) and on the high stage, located on the Migdia Pi terrace in El Tarter which will operate from 12:00 midday to 8:00 p.m.. The advance ticket price is € 20 for one day and € 35 for two days, while tickets from the ticket office will rise to € 22 per day.

 

Forecast for the weekend

As far as the weather and snow conditions are concerned, this weekend from March 29 to 30, Grandvalira will have virtually 100% of its skiable area open, with about 118 slopes and 210 kilometers available. The natural snow accumulated in Andorran territory has been bolstered by light snowfall over the last few days, with depths ranging from 90 to 230 inches.  Temperatures over the next few days will be cold, but no rain is expected at the weekend.

Almost all the facilities in the territory, restaurants, schools and other services will be fully operational.  It should be said that as El Tarter Snowpark will be closed to contest the Total Fight, the general public has the other two snowparks of the resort available for freestyle, located in the Grau Roig sector: Xavi Park and Sunset Park Peretol with the opening hours of the latter being from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.

 

Telemark Meeting

This week, from Friday, 28 to Sunday, 30 the third Telemark meeting will be held in El Tarter sector, involving various activities. At 9:00 a.m. on the first day, there will be a climb in furs to the summit of Montmalús from the Riba Escorxada clock.

On Saturday, it is the turn of the Andorra Telemark Championships, to be held from 10:00 a.m. on the Esparver slope. It will be in parallel classic sprint form in the master category and classic sprint in two races for the others.  Finally, on Sunday at 9:00 a.m., the Classic Encampanada will take place, with 400 vertical meters in Freeheel. Besides these competitions, the meeting will include workshops, dinners and other bonding activities.

Meanwhile, on Sunday 30 another race will also be held in El Tarter.  This is the McDonald's giant slalom trophy. This event, organized by the Soldeu Ski Club, will be held on the Esparver slope.
