Grandvalira uses technology to ensure the safety of its customers

Grandvalira has made a strong commitment to technology in order to improve the safety conditions for snow lovers. Its new app for mobiles and tablets, and the use of another tool such as Alpify, are just another example of the efforts being made by the Andorran resort in the area of safety.

For this new season, Grandvalira has renewed its app for smartphones, which provides information in real time on snow forecasts and weather conditions, the pistes and the ski-lifts that are open, as well as events and notifications from the domain on the social networks.

In addition to this information, the app has a database of points of interest, including the services and infrastructures of the resort (schools, medical services, restaurants, car parks, childcare, etc.) which can be viewed on an interactive map.

Another important function of the Grandvalira app is that you can use it to save, analyze and share your experience on the snow as it includes a number of tools such as the GPS tracker, personal statistics and geotagging of photos.

This app for mobiles and tablets can be downloaded free of charge and is available for iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPad touch) and Android in four languages: Catalan, Spanish, French and English.

Alpify

Another technological tool that Grandvalira is using this season to ensure the maximum safety of its customers is Alpify. This app for mobiles and tablets allows any user that is connected and has the device turned on to be located at all times using geolocation.

Grandvalira is one of the few ski resorts in the world that has rescue teams equipped with Alpify. This way, if any person using this app gets lost or injures him or herself, he or she can send an emergency signal by simply pressing a button on their smartphone.

Furthermore, if the user is unable to notify the rescue teams or their battery runs out, they can still be found thanks to the information on their position and route stored on the system. Of particular interest is that it is not necessary to have internet access in order to send an emergency message, the signal is sent via SMS to the resort's control panels where the location of the emergency is pinpointed on the map of the territory.

Another function of Alpify is that the app provides the most important emergency telephone numbers in its service area and sends weather forecast messages, details on ski-lift breakdowns and other safety related issues. Furthermore, the app also works outside of the resort across the whole of Andorra and connects to the emergency telephone number for the Principality (112).

Alpify is available to download free of charge from Apple Store, Google Play and BlackBerry App World.
