Gore-Tex High Camp Tour


It is three days of freeriding and ski touring in Andorra. 

It is a unique three-day experience in nature (long weekend) to practice freeriding and ski touring in the snow of Andorra (from 1 to 4 March 2018).


It is for fans of skiing, ski touring, and freeriding, adventurers, and readers of Oxigeno magazine. It involves three days of nature, adventure, sport and community led by professional mountain guides and international riders like Giuliano Bordoni, Joaquín Vena and Jonathan Larrañaga, who will share their expertise on safety, techniques, materials, orienteering, using ARVA, nivology, cartography, and more, all in the unique wilderness of the Andorra mountains.



7:00 pm

- Arrival and welcome of participants.

- Briefing about the activity.

- Briefing about the weather, safety, and inspection of materials.

- Introduction of the team of alpine guides and guest athletes: Joaquín Vena and Giuliano Bordoni.

9:00 pm

- Dinner in the hotel.



8:00 am

- Breakfast and distribution of picnic lunches.

9:00 am

- Day’s session begins.

- Leave for the Valle Ransol/Incles activity, offering access to several iconic peaks like Pic de la Serrera, Pic de l’Estany Mort, etc. to enjoy these Andorran valleys.

We will do training sessions about:

- Safety, tests with materials: probe, ARVA and shovel.

- Ski techniques on slopes (anchoring and rappel).

- Mountaineering (climbing and ice axe technique).

5:00 pm

- Arrival at the hotel. Rest.

6:00 pm

- Material presentation by Haglöfs, La Sportiva, BlackCrows.

7:00 pm

- Nivology and safety clinic given by the guides.

- Orientation and cartography (How to prepare a ski touring itinerary).

8:30 pm

- Dinner.



8:00 am

- Breakfast at the hotel. Distribution of picnic lunches.

9:00 am

- Day’s session begins.

- Leave in groups for Grau Roig, towards the L’Illa Mountain Refuge, a spectacular shelter opened in June of 2017 where we will spend Saturday night.

- We will divide into groups with different guides based on physical fitness and technical ability.

- Like the previous day we will work on and practice different aspects of ski touring and freeriding.

- There are several ways to get to the refuge from Grau Roig, including Circ de Pessons, Vallcivera, and Portella Blanca d’Andorra. These trails are off the beaten track and we are sure not to see any traces of travellers who have come before us.

5:00 pm

- Arrival at the L’Illa Refuge. Rest.

8:00 pm

- Dinner.

9:00 pm

- Presentation by Giuliano about one of his recent journeys: "El Diari del Drac".



8:00 am

- Breakfast.

- Briefing about the activity.

9:00 am

- Leave in groups for the activity. The itinerary back to Grau Roig will be determined depending on the snow and the conditions.

2:00 pm

- Arrival in Grau Roig.

2:30 pm

- Farewell lunch at the Grau Roig guides’ chalet.
