ALPINE SKIING WORLD CUP 2016

PISTA ÀLIGA
The second edition of the Ladie's Alpine Skiing World Cup at Grandvalira will take place this season at Grandvalira. The first edition of Ladie’s Alpine Skiing World Cup (slalom and giant slalom) took place in 2012, reaching an audience of 75 million viewers and a re- turn of 48 million euros. In 2016 we hope to surpass those figures. The second edition of the Ladie’s Alpine Skiing World Cup will be on February 27 & 28, 2016, on the Àliga slope in the Grandvalira-El Tarter sector. This year’s achievements will reinforce Grandvalira’s position as an elite destination on a par with other World Cup-organizing destinations.
The competitions, bringing together the best skiers in the world, will be held on the Àliga SG and Àliga SL slopes in Grandvalira-El Tarter sector. The layout of the Super Giant (SG) has been adapted to the International Ski Federation (FIS) for speed races and is called Àliga SG. On Saturday 27th, the Super Giant will be held on a slope 2.2 km long, 60 meters wide and 600 meters difference in height where skiers can reach speeds of over 120km/h.
At the request of the FIS, the final section of the old Àliga route, now called Àliga SL (Slalom), to prepare it for the Slalom trial, part of the Combined Alpine that consist of said Slalom trial and a Super Giant run. The Combined Alpine will be held on Sunday 28th.
